Background...
BARTAGO HOUSE, formerly Palazzo Carella / Petrachi, is located in the beating heart of the nineteenth-century area of Ostuni.
Embraced, on one side, by the largest park in the city, VILLA COMUNALE SANDRO PERTINI. On the other, from the famous PIAZZA DELLA LIBERTA nerve center of the WHITE CITY for its nightlife, and from PIAZZETTA SANT'ORONZO with the obelisk of the patron saint dating back to 1771._cc781905-5cde-3194 -bb3b-136bad5cf58d_
It is a 17th century building that extends between two streets, which once belonged entirely to a single owner.
In the following years it was divided into two parts, while continuing to share the main entrance located in via Cisaria 32, where you can still admire the wonderful historic door that serves the two adjacent buildings. The right side is currently uninhabited.
Bartolo and Agostina, the current owners, when in 2005 they bought the left side of the main door, making it BARTAGO HOUSE, they decided to build the main entrance in Via Tommaso Campanella 16, leaving the one in via Cisaria as a secondary one.
A restyling was therefore necessary that would also reorganize the external volumes in full respect of the original perimeter. This is how we opted for iron grates. (Project: Macciocchi-Cardone-Parisio.)
IL VIALE DEI GELSOMINI which is currently taken to enter from the aforementioned street, was once the entrance dedicated to carriages and horses. The hooks serving this purpose can still be admired along the walls.
At the end of the avenue, the room that currently houses the GYM was nothing more than a stable where there were mangers and bedding for the animals.
BARTAGO HOUSE rises for three and a half floors. Between the ground floor and the day floor, where Bartolo and Agostina reside, there is the so-called mezzanine or mezzanine floor. (Small rooms with lower vaults, dedicated to services and ').
The BARTAGO LUXURY HOUSE suite is located on the third floor, occupying it entirely, including the small terrace adjacent to the bedroom, where the splendid hanging swimming pool was built.
This is the most noble attic floor also thanks to the LARGE PANORAMIC TERRACE, among the highest in Ostuni, from which you can enjoy a breathtaking view of the historic center and the entire marina that expands from TORRECANNE up to the nature reserve of TORRE GUACETO.
Bartolo and Agostina, who have always worked in the tourism sector, could only dedicate this floor to hospitality. So in 2009, when they moved, they began to devote themselves to this ambitious project which only took its definitive form in 2020. The year in which the BARTAGO LUXURY HOUSE suite was inaugurated.
